MEET TRACY

Tracy Kosolcharoen’s journey to public service has been a lifetime in the making.

Tracy fostered her love of learning and hometown pride in Cupertino's public schools: Faria Elementary, Kennedy Middle School, and Monta Vista High School. Like many of her classmates, Tracy grew up in an immigrant household. Her parents came to America from Hong Kong and Thailand, and worked hard to make Cupertino their permanent home.

Tracy's career shaped her into a data-driven leader who holds herself accountable to delivering results.  She furthered her studies at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, receiving a degree in Economics, concentrating in Finance and Marketing. She then built her career at global brands including Bank of America-Merrill Lynch, American Express, OpenTable, and Eventbrite.

Civic engagement has never been far away for Tracy, who has canvassed for local candidates and issues in every city she called home. But a turning point came shortly after she, her husband, and their young children moved back to Cupertino. In 2021, the Cupertino Union School District chose to close three elementary schools, including the beloved Regnart Elementary. Tracy joined many families in the fight to save their neighborhood schools, but the majority of the district’s Board Trustees would not listen. Within a year, schools built on decades of parental effort and millions in taxpayer dollars were gone. Regnart was reduced to real estate going to the highest bidder. The community’s pain was palpable.

Afterwards, Tracy realized that the community had a need for better representation. She decided to step up in a greater capacity to represent her fellow citizens. Tracy currently serves as Chair of the Cupertino Planning Commission, Chair of the VTA Citizens Advisory Committee, and member of the Cupertino Economic Development Committee. In her free time, she also volunteers on the board of the Cupertino Little League, where her two children have cultivated a great love of baseball.

Now, driven by a lifelong love for her hometown, Tracy is running for City Council to give back to the Cupertino community that raised her. In order to be fully free to represent the residents, she takes no money from unions or outside interest groups. And she is always happy to meet with the community to help solve their problems.
